Dank des milden Klimas und der gro\u00dfartigen k\u00fcnstlerischen und naturalistischen Sch\u00f6nheiten gilt die Stadt als eine der Perlen Siziliens. \u00dcber den Ursprung von <strong>Cefal\u00f9<\/strong> ist wenig bekannt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Stadt entstand vermutlich um das 5. Jahrhundert. Chr. als befestigter Au\u00dfenposten, mit ziemlicher Sicherheit griechisch, direkt am Fu\u00dfe des Felsens, wo sich noch heute das historische Zentrum befindet, umgeben von einer m\u00e4chtigen Stadtmauer, die als Megalithmauern bekannt ist. Nicht nur die Megalithmauern und teilweise das Stadtgef\u00fcge, sondern auch einige interessante Zeugnisse, die j\u00fcngste arch\u00e4ologische Forschungen zu Tage gef\u00f6rdert haben, stammen aus dem hellenistisch-r\u00f6mischen Cefal\u00f9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zwischen dem Ende des 5. und dem Beginn des 4. Jahrhunderts. B.C. Der Diana-Tempel muss datiert werden, ein megalithisches Geb\u00e4ude auf dem Felsen, das um eine fr\u00fchgeschichtliche Zisterne herum gebaut wurde, die zusammen mit zwei H\u00f6hlen auf der Ostseite als Sitz eines Wasserkults angelegt wurde Fels, das Vorhandensein einer menschlichen Siedlung in der Gegend bereits vor der Entstehung des st\u00e4dtischen Zentrums am Meer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In der <strong>byzantinischen Zeit<\/strong> wurde die Stadt, wie viele andere Orte an der K\u00fcste, auf den Felsen verlegt, um sich besser gegen Piratenangriffe verteidigen zu k\u00f6nnen. Hier sind noch bedeutende \u00dcberreste mittelalterlicher Bauwerke sichtbar (Zinnenmauern, Zisternen, Kirchen, Kasernen und eine Reihe von \u00d6fen). Auch das polychrome Mosaik (6.
